Breast Augmentation Special with Free Juvederm filler or Botox! LAST MONTH How to Kebab and a Chicken Kebab Recipe

Mused after once again experiencing failure at putting things together. Recently, I got a smoker grill which required some assembly. THE HANDLE TOOK ME 4 ATTEMPTS! First, I put it on with screws which were the wrong ones. Second, put on the right screws. Third, washers were supposed to go on before screws. Finished the whole project to notice a metal bar that was supposed to go on before the washers and screws. Something that would normally take an hour took me over three hours. You won’t catch me going to Ikea!

PEPTIDES, WHAT ARE THEY AND WHICH ARE BENEFICIAL AND WHICH ARE QUESTIONABLE

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as essential signaling molecules in the body. A common one made in the body is insulin, which regulates blood sugar levels. Insulin is also a popular man-made peptide, as is the increasingly common GLP-1s. The problem lies with the peptides that are not approved by the FDA.

Injectable peptides such as BPC-157, TB-500, and CJC-1295 are the rage in some areas. They purport to help in recovery from musculoskeletal injuries or heal faster after surgery. The first two stimulate new blood vessel formation, and the last increases growth hormone. Sounds good, or too good to be true?

(Did You Know? Peptides occur naturally in protein-rich foods like meat, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, and lentils.)

There are a number of potential risks with unapproved peptides, primarily due to no good long-term studies on humans. The biggest worry is that there could be a risk of cancer. Both growth hormone and stimulation of new blood vessels could encourage tissue growth and tumors. Long-term kidney damage may occur. Two other concerns are product contamination with bacteria or heavy metals. Many are sourced from China.

Other short-term side effects include Blurred vision, skin rashes, anxiety, and depression. “Stacking,” or taking more than one peptide simultaneously, can increase potential effects.

As far as collagen is concerned, for a healthy young person eating plenty of protein and Vitamin C, collagen supplements are usually unnecessary. However, if your goal is to combat aging skin or joint wear and tear, supplements can provide a concentrated boost that is hard to replicate with food alone.

LA DOLCE VITA, JOIE DE VIVRE:

    Kebabs

Kebabs are an easy way to grill with just a couple of rules. First, if they are not vegetarian, then pick a protein. Chicken breasts dry up quicker than thighs. Use a squirt of cider vinegar every few minutes to keep moist. Pork works well, but choose carefully which beef, as some filets are expensive, and others, such as chuck roast, are chewy. Pick vegetables that cook about the same time as the meat. Use a variety of vegetables. Next, the double-prong and cages (see above) seem to work best for me, keeping the food on the sticks and rotating them to get even cooking. Lastly, marinades applied before or sauces applied during or right after cooking add another level of flavor.

    Chicken Kebabs

Cut 11/2 lbs. of chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces. Cut red onion and two bell peppers into 1-inch pieces. Thread them alternating. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Place on the grill, with the temp 450-500 degrees. Grill, uncovered, turning every few minutes, and baste with cider vinegar. Cook 12-15 minutes until chicken is 165 degrees. Apply your choice of BBQ sauce.
