Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted disease and causes warts. It may also result in cancer. Only 43% of teenagers complete the series of shots required to protect against a number of cancers. Other vaccinations recommended at the same age are given 80% of the time. More than 70% of the population will experience at least one HPV infection.
The Center for Disease Control recommends that children under age 15 get two doses at least 6 months apart. Those over 15 should get three doses over the course of 6 months.
(Did You Know? I personally know friends who have had cervical and throat cancers. The treatment of both is extensive and goes on for months. Even if cured, the feeling of “cancer” affects everyone involved. )
The cancers from HPV include cervical, throat, and anal. The vaccination protects against about 90% of these cancers. Doctors should administer the HPV vaccine at the same time as other vaccinations such as Tdap and meningococcal.

Lite Shepard’s Pie: Microwave 2-12 oz pkgs of frozen rice cauliflower. Food process with Boursin cheese. Heat oil in large ovenproof skillet. Add 1 lb turkey and brown. Add 2 cps carrots, and 1 cp each chopped zucchini, onion, and frozen peas. After 4 minutes add 3 Tbls flour and 1 tsp thyme. Increase heat and add 1.5 cps chicken stock. Cook until thickens. Salt and pepper to taste. Spoon cauliflower mixture over turkey/veggies. Broil until cauliflower is browned.
