• Retinol to Reverse Face Wrinkles Laser/IPL Here to Improve Skin, Veins, Hair Removal and Remove Tattoos! Botox WEEK, Yes, WEEK, This WEEK! Botox Tuesday is September 17 Coolsculpting at our Lowest Price Ever, see below!

Jeuveau/Newtox is the latest in injectable treatments. It works in a similar fashion as Botox but with a “surprising onset and promising duration”. For a limited time we will be offering this at $10/unit or $150 for our typical syringe of 15 units.

Botox Day is Tuesday, September 17 BUT WE WILL BE HAVING SOME HOURS EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!!! We will have discounts on Botox and fillers such as Juvederm. Botox is $13/unit or $195/syringe (normally $16/unit and $240/syringe). Fillers are also 10% off. Juvederm is the most common filler for “raising” facial wrinkles. Voluma is an injectable filler that augments and lifts the cheeks and Volbella and Vollure subtly augment the lips and improve perioral wrinkles.

Mused after watching the Amazon Prime series Carnival Row. A murder mystery, love story and clash of cultures that stars actor Orlando Bloom. Like many Netflix & Amazon Prime & Hulu series, a good story and very fine acting.

    Retinol & Retinoids

Retinol is basically vitamin A. The skin uses it for regeneration. Retinols and retinoids help speed the natural skin cycle clearing the skin. This leads to less acne, more even skin tone, and fewer wrinkles.

Retinoids are an essential part of skin care and great looking skin! It is a classification of topicals that include retinoic acid (tretinoin, Retin-A) and retinols. Retinols are converted by the skin to retinoic acid. Isotretinoin or Accutane, although in the same family, is an oral medication used for significant acne. Like Accutane, Retin-A, which was developed in 1969, was primarily used for acne and today common for its cosmetic improvements.

There are a number of advantageous cosmetic effects retinoids have on the skin. They enhance collagen production while decreasing breakdown. The result is not only thicker skin but also, new smoother skin. Retinoids affect pigmentation and give a smoothness of the skin coloration particularly when used with hydroquinones which are in bleaching creams. Lastly, there is some evidence of increasing blood supply and the rosy appearance to skin.

Want more youthful skin, fewer wrinkles, and smaller pores? Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or microneedling does just this by stimulating collagen. Similar to laser resurfacing or chemical peels without the downtime. Purchase our face package of three treatments and get the fourth one FREE. Go to www.dermapen.com for details of CIT.

Starting on Retin-A, almost everyone has dry, flaky, red skin for about 6 weeks. This can be minimized by using a low strength or even a retinol and applying 2-3 times per week with the use of a moisturizer. Don’t forget to use sunscreen daily.

Only a pea size amount of Retin-A is necessary for the face. It should be applied at night because sunlight reduces its effectiveness. Improvement is usually seen at around 12 weeks and will continue for up to about a year at which time switching to a higher concentration may be beneficial.

We have our Retin-A at 20% off this month.

    -Men’s Health

We have a new Laser/IPL and this is what it does…

A laser is a wavelength of light. This wavelength is absorbed by something specific. For example, a blood vessel laser light is attracted to the hemoglobin in the blood which clots spider veins, broken capillaries and small facial blood vessels and the body absorbs them. The hair removal laser light is attracted to the melanin in the hair follicle which it destroys. The erbium or skin resurfacing laser light is attracted to the water in the skin so it removes layers of skin improving fine wrinkles. The tattoo laser light has two wavelengths. The most common is attracted to dark pigments in the cells holding the dye. The other is attracted by colors especially red. “Erase Regret” occurs by destroying the cell with the ink and the body removes the “free” ink.

The IPL is technically not laser but a light that goes through a prism that filters out most lights except certain wavelengths. Different prisms allow different wavelengths through. It is not as specific as a laser but helps with brown spots, diffuse blood vessels (think cheeks), acne (improves within hours) and to a lesser extent hair removal. It will also tighten skin.

In many cases a laser is a PROCESS. In almost all cases more than one treatment is needed to achieve an endpoint. And, of course, it’s virtually impossible to predict how many treatments are needed. Oftentimes the treatments continue until a goal or no further improvement is achieved. Even then “maintenance” may be needed. For example, with hair removal, even if 90+% of hair is removed, once yearly treatments are recommended.

(Did You Know? Laser stands for “Light Amplification by Stimulation Emission of Radiation”. IPL stands for “Intense Pulse Light”.)

In Ohio, the law states that a trained professional (like our nurses) can use the hair removal laser with a physician in the building. All other laser treatments must be done by a physician.

A common cooking problem is grilling either a very thick piece of meat and trying to get the inside cooked or cooking medium rare and well done meat simultaneously. One trick is once the outside is seared or cooked enough, transfer it to the side of the grill that is not on and get the middle cooked by “indirect heat”. Use meat thermometer to get the desired doneness.

6 or more cycles are $500 off. Mention Botox Week Coolsculpting special and receive Coolsculpting at our lowest price ever.
