Plant-Based Meat
A few months ago I ordered a regular Whopper and a plant-based Whopper. Both had a similar taste so I decided to look into the nutritional values of plant-based meats.
Impossible Burger (4 oz.): 240 calories, total fat 14 g, saturated fat 8g, protein 19g, cholesterol 0 mg sodium 370mg, total carbs 9g, fiber 3g.
McDonald’s Quarter pounder patty (4 oz.): calories 210, total fat 15g, saturated fat 7g, protein 19g, cholesterol 70mg, sodium 55mg, total carbs 1g, fiber 0g.
Lentils (4oz.): calories 130, total fat .4g, saturated fat 0g, protein 10g, cholesterol 0mg, sodium 0 mg, total carbs 23g, fiber 9g.
(Did You Know? Soy concentrate, potato protein powder, oils, water, and a few binders, and flavorings followed by leghemoglobin make up most of the plant-based meat.)
There is also information that manufacturing plant-based meat is better for the environment than raising large animals for 18-24 months.
