A recent study of over 80,000 women found that obesity increased the death rate 34% in premenopausal women whose breast cancer was susceptible to higher levels of estrogen.  There was no link found between obesity and those breast cancers that are estrogen receptor negative.  Another study found no significant link with obesity cancer and post-menopausal women.  The presumption for the increased risk of cancer and poorer outcomes is from obesity itself and that fat cells hold more estrogen.

Obesity also is linked to an increased risk of not only breast but colon, esophagus, endometrium, kidney, pancreas, gallbladder, thyroid, and high-grade prostate cancer.  The Center for Disease Control estimates that 35% of Americans are obese and 70% are obese or overweight.

Obesity also increases the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and some other chronic diseases.
