    Tips on Dealing with Stress

It goes without saying that ALL of us have experienced more stress than what we are used to this past 18 months. Here are a couple of tips from expert psychologists.

Slow Down. Too often we careen from one task to the next. Pause after finishing one as this helps clear out the mental “noise”.

Create a Montra. Research shows that thinking of a word or phrase that affirms our values and silently repeating it reduces activity across our brain. With your mind swirling with all that needs to be done, it gives you something to focus on.

(Did You Know? Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps to improve the ability to see reality clearly and embrace all our emotions. It takes practice to accept our emotions and deal clearheadedly with our situation. Acceptance is the opposite of being stuck.)

Distance Yourself. Sometimes we become too entrenched with our situation to see clearly. Try giving advice to yourself, the way you would a friend.

Reconnect with Values. Close your eyes and think of a sweet memory. Picture all of it, the sights, sounds, smells etc. Use this as a balance in your life.

Try a Sunset Mode of Mind. A sunset mode is a mind-set that allows us to take in all of life’s emotions, just as we would a sunset. “There is beauty and sadness in life,” says Dr, Hayes, a psychology professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. “A sunset mode allows you to show up to the whole of it.”

    Here’s to a beautiful sunset! 😉

    LA DOLCE VITA
    Carpaccio

Use filet mignon for this. Figure about 2 ounces per person for an appetizer. Cover the outside with olive oil then salt and pepper. In a hot pan, sear all around the meat but don’t cook it. (Carpaccio is traditionally raw meat but this sear gives it texture.) Wrap with cling wrap and put in freezer for 60-90 minutes. It partially freezes the meat which makes cutting it into thin slices easier. Plate the thin slices then add Caesar dressing (I used Ken’s low fat.) Add some capers, arugula, and shaved parmesan cheese. Salt to taste.

Patients can earn Alle Double Points on the JUVEDERM Collection of Fillers when they receive a JUVEDERM and BOTOX Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) treatment within the same appointment. That’s up to $180 in points earned during one transaction!
