    Face Masks and Efficacy

Some face mask is better than nothing but…

    Masks fall into 3 categories:

Cloth or coverings like gaiters are intended to prevent an infected person from spreading the virus by catching large droplets. This works well in herd-immunity; the more people wear masks the more effective this is. Wash after use.

Surgical masks are also meant to prevent the wearer from spreading diseases. Made from polypropylene. Dispose after use.

And N95 masks protect the wearer as well as long as it fits tightly to the face. Limited quantity.

(Did You Know? The WHO uses a scale for masks that combines filter quality and breath-ability. Surgical masks 16.9, cotton 7.4, and polyester 6.8 (the higher number is better.)

N95 masks filter out at least 95% of small particles. When removing do not touch front but pull from elastic straps. Of course wash your hands after touching. If you need to reuse it, it is recommended to store it in a paper bags for 5 days before reusing.

LA DOLCE VITA, JOIE DE VIVRE:

    Chef Bobby Flay’s Avocado Toast:

Combine avocado, lime juice, cilantro and chopped green onion. Add salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste. Smear over toasted, bread sourdough would be a good choice. I placed smoked salmon and capers on my avocado toast.

    TESTIMONIAL:

Laura Boucher, Skin Care Nurse and OR Nurse

Q: How did you come to McKenna Cosmetic Surgery?

A: A friend of mine that sees Dr McKenna told me that he was looking for a skincare nurse.

Q: What other jobs have you had?

A:  As a teenager, I had numerous jobs; from lifeguard to customer service representative. As an adult, I’ve been a flight attendant, a mom/baby nurse, labor and delivery nurse, and an OR nurse

Q: What has been your most unusual job?

A: I haven’t had any unusual jobs; but my most interesting job was being a flight attendant for 10 years which allowed me to travel the world.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do?

A: Spend time with my family and run, run, run!!

Q: What do you want your patients to know about what you do here?

A: Primarily, I focus on skincare. Our skin is the largest organ on our body and taking proper care of it has a huge anti-aging effect. I love helping my patients achieve smoother, brighter, and healthier skin. You’ll also see me in the OR a couple of days a week. I prep patients for surgery and recover them after their surgery, always ensuring their safety and comfort.
