This procedure is accomplished using Dermapen, a micro-needling device that works to tighten, lift, and rejuvenate skin by stimulating factors and collagen. The induction of collagen continues for weeks so treatments are recommended a month apart. It is effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as improving brown spots, stretch marks, and scars, especially from acne. It creates channels in the skin in a controlled manner. A “pen” is glided over numbed skin and tiny needles go just beneath the skin with virtually no discomfort. As compared to other skin rejuvenation treatments like lasers and chemicals, Dermapen does not damage the epidermis and, therefore, is safe on most skin types. Specifically, the treatment day and sometimes into the next there may be the appearance of a sunburn. Makeup and exercise are resumed in 24 hours. Three treatments are recommended for rejuvenation and six for scarring. Improvement continues for weeks with the stimulation of new collagen. Most treatments take about an hour.
