  • Christmastime: Sharing Humanity

100 years ago Thursday (yes, Christmas Day) a brief truce occurred between the British and German soldiers fighting in WWI.  Both sides came out of their trenches to hold burial services together, trade goods, and as legend has it, play soccer.  After a period of time, the soldiers were ordered back to their respective sides to resume fighting.

This story reminds us that Christmastime and the holidays are a celebration of what we, as humanity, share in common.  Too often, occurrences in our lives and the media divide us.  The soldiers teach us to look at what connects us during our brief stay on earth.

(Did You Know?  Sainsbury’s, a British grocery store has a short video that reenacts the truce of WWI.  Go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWF2JBb1bvM. Control+click to watch)

From my staff and me, we wish you a peaceful and sharing holiday season with prospects of a joyous New Year!
