  • Botox Day Tuesday March 17, Wine and Headaches

Botox Day is Tuesday March 17 with discounts on Botox and fillers such as Juvederm.  Botox is $13/unit or $195/syringe (normally $16/unit and $240/syringe) and fillers are 10% off.  Voluma is an injectable filler that augments and lifts the cheeks.  Buy a syringe for each side and get $150 off PLUS a free $240 syringe of Botox.  Add a syringe of Juvederm and save an additional $100.  (Good as long as we have rebates.)

Some people get headaches when they drink wine, especially red.  Sulfites are often blamed (although there was a different excuse after the Cincinnati Wine Festival last weekend.)  Sulfites are in many things we eat and unless you develop allergic reactions to raisins, sulfites are probably not the reason for headaches.  Histamines and tannins release serotonins which can cause headaches much like chocolate.  Alcohol itself is a well-known trigger of migraines.

(Did You Know?  Calories:  1-5 ounce glass of wine is 120-130 calories.  One beer is about 150 calories, 1.5 ounces of liquor 100 calories, 1 cup of orange juice is 125 calories, and one can of cola is 150 calories.)

Drinking red wine can cause your teeth to turn red.  This has to do with the pH and protein in your mouth.  Eating something such as cheese and drinking water with the wine minimizes the redness on your teeth.  Finally, wait about an hour after drinking wine (no you won’t drown) before brushing your teeth.  The acidity from the wine combined with the abrasion of brushing may damage your teeth.
