Flu season is here. How to minimize your chances of catching one of the viruses? First and foremost get the flu shot. Secondly, get the flu shot. Kroger’s, CVS and Walgreen’s all have opportunities to get it.
Wash your hands and again, wash your hands. Wipe commonly shared items like keyboards, phones, handrails, doorknobs. Avoid close contact with those who are sick and cover your own mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth which are common ways to infect yourself.
(Did You Know? Chicken soup really can ease inflammation and combat the flu. Just ask mom.)
If you get sick, stay home. There are prescription antiviral drugs such as Tamiflu that can shorten your symptoms by one to two days. Also, they help minimize flu complications such as pneumonia. Check with your family doctor.

The holidays are upon us and here is a simple crockpot recipe for a crowd pleasing breakfast.
In a medium bowl, whisk 12 eggs and a cup of milk. Add salt and pepper. Grease a 6-quart slow cooker. Layer half a 32 oz. bag of frozen hash browns, a quarter pound of uncooked Italian sausage, a half cup of chopped roasted red peppers, and 1 cup of spinach. Repeat the layering one more time. Pour the egg mixture on top. Cover and set the slow cooker to low. Cook until the eggs set, about 7 hours.
