Positive Life Affirmations VII-Grocery Safety and Alternatives

With the restaurant business in need consider picking up a to-go order once a week if you can afford it. Last week I learned about Popeye’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The chicken is thick and moist, bun thin and sauce just spicy enough. Remember it’s about 700 calories. Good enough to return.

Mail Orders:

Again slightly more expensive but it keeps you out of the grocery store. I have been using Hello Fresh for about 4 months now and have found it to be good. The seasonings are what separates it from just making it yourself. Requires getting online weekly to pick which of about 20 meals and how much of it you want. Can skip a week too. This week I’m getting Vietnamese chicken bowl, teriyaki pork luau, and barramundi (fish) with salsa verde. They take about an hour to make. Delivery to your door. There are many others online too.

Grocery Safety:

Is it safe?

Try to minimize visits and take a grocery list to lessen time there. Maintain social distancing and wash hands or use sanitizer as soon as possible after leaving.

Should I wear masks or gloves?

Most experts say unless you are infected do not use a mask. It only encourages you to touch your face. Gloves don’t help much if you continue to touch other things including your face. Better to wash with soap and water.

Should I bring wipes?

They are good for the cart handles and other structures at the store others may touch.

Seniors?

Try avoiding the store and use online grocery ordering or go when there are not crowds.

Paper and plastic bags at home?

Discard and wash hands.

Packaging?

While the virus can live on various materials it is unlikely to contaminate, better to wash your hands.

Fruits and vegetables?

Experts urge washing with just water or a small amount of soap or vinegar. Do Not Use chlorine or chemical wipes.

Clothes?

The virus is not transmitted through clothing and can be killed by laundering.
