  • Botox Day Tuesday August 15, Prevent Food Waste

Botox Day is tomorrow, Tuesday August 15, with discounts on Botox and fillers such as Juvederm.  Botox is $13/unit or $195/syringe (normally $16/unit and $240/syringe) and fillers are 10% off.  Voluma is an injectable filler that augments and lifts the cheeks and Volbella subtly augments the lips and improves perioral wrinkles.  A new product, Vollure, is for fine lines and wrinkles.

Mused after watching the PGA, one of golf’s big 4 tournaments.  The winner was congratulated by a number of other golfers who waited for him to finish.  The millennials are showing what sportsmanship is all about, winning isn’t everything.

We all do it-throw out food that has spoiled.  Food waste is the single largest component of solid waste in landfills.  Here are some tips to minimize waste.

    1. Purchase wisely.  Seems intuitive, but buying “in bulk” to save money may actually cost more if much of it is thrown out.
    2. Store food properly.  Follow the lead of grocery stores on how they manage food.  Tomatoes and avocados are better on the counter instead of the refrigerator.  Also, buy fewer fresh items and go to the store more frequently.
    3. Manage your inventory.  Check what you have before going to the store to prevent duplication.
    4. Rescue produce.  If you can’t use a food before its expiration consider freezing it.

(Did You Know?   The average family of four throws out over 1,000 pounds of food each year at a cost of $1,500.)

    1. Cook root to stem.  Some peels and stems contain nutrition (think orange zest) but we normally just throw them out.
    2. Love leftovers.  Plan a day or two where leftover are served to finish the small amounts from previous meals.  Some things can be added to eggs as they tend to bring together foods.
    3. Change your mindset.  More isn’t always better.  Value each item of food whether it is something we purchase at the grocery or what we order at a restaurant.

    WHAT’S NEW?

Cellfina, www.cellfina.com, is the only FDA-cleared minimally invasive procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least three years.  The best candidate has dimpling that is not caused by loose skin.  The benefits are a long-lasting, single, in-office treatment that usually takes under an hour.  No general anesthesia is needed and downtime is limited in most cases to the day of treatment.  96% of patients were satisfied after two years.  The cost normally is $4,000-$6,000 but the introductory price is $3,000 for a limited time.  Call 513-793-5772 for a complimentary consultation or more information.

Vollure is the newest filler for fine wrinkles.  It doesn’t project as much as Juvederm but is smoother and lasts up to 18 months.  Volbella is a lip filler that DOES NOT exaggerate the lips but improves wrinkles and creases in the lips and the skin just above the lips.  Studies show it lasts for about a year.  Come in and see what it has done for Diane, Crystal and Dianna.  Voluma augments the cheeks and lifts some of the lower tissues.

Kybella is an injected solution that melts the fat under your chin.
