RFK Jr. admits doing it, Arnold became famous doing it, Lance Armstrong won many Tour de France biking titles doing it and so have a large number of others. Performing Enhancing Drugs or PEDS has surged with the growth of hormone replacement for low testosterone and the prevalence of social media. To understand the mindset and addictive nature is to understand the growth of this industry, legal or not.
There are many steroids that function similarly to testosterone which binds to androgen receptors to help regulate libido, sperm production, bone building and muscle growth. A few are legal under a physician’s prescription but most anabolic steroids are illegal. They come in oral and injectable forms. Some mostly bulk up muscle, some provide definition but most do both.
PEDs hurt the body in many ways. Some common signs include mood swings and aggression, gynecomastia, hair loss, acne, testicular atrophy, liver and kidney issues, high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems.
(Did You Know? Some of the more common anabolic steroids include (using nicknames): testosterone, Deca, tren, Primo, Mast, DHB, Anavor, Dianabol, Winnie and growth hormone (although technically a different category.)
Photos on the interweb via social media and commercials promising “feeling and looking” half your age have caused anabolic steroids and testosterone use to explode. Go to TikTok and see RFK, Jr. do pull-ups at age 70. Changes occur within weeks and results reenforce usage. Hollywood encourages it with estimates that 50-75 percent of the Marvel action stars using some form of PED. Watch the show, Jack Reacher. There is no drug testing in Hollywood.
Addiction is so prevalent that many feel that once started, PEDs are for life. Coming down after using oftentimes leads to depression from the physical and also emotional highs of using. Instead, one user stated, “get into therapy, and take it as a challenge to learn to love the body you have.” If taking testosterone for low T, be sure to see a physician qualified in hormonal replacement.

I’m a big fan of meals that are simple and can quickly be put together. As I have mentioned before, the roasted chickens at Costco and grocery stores are ideal for this.
Mexican Soup
In a pot mix: 1 can fire roasted tomatoes undrained, 1 can rinsed black beans, 1 bag frozen bell pepper and onion mix, 1 can drained corn, 2 cups of shredded rotisserie chicken (easy trick is to put the chicken in a bag and through the bag remove chicken from bones), 1-2 envelopes of taco seasoning, and 3-4 cups of chicken broth. Once warmed, check salt and pepper seasoning. Put in bowls and add tortilla chips. Sour cream, guacamole or salsa toppings are options.
