Mused after reading Sir Mick Jagger just turned 80 years old! He was five when he met Keith Richards. The Stones have grossed over 2 billion dollars from just touring. Their famous tongue/mouth logo patterned after Mick’s mouth, cost 50 pounds to have designed. He has a degree from the prestigious London School of Economics.

Is Aspartame Bad for Your Health?

The short answer is yes, but the amount may surprise you. Since 1981, a division of the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended a maximum of 40 milligrams of aspartame a day for each kilogram someone weighs. For a 175-pound person, that is roughly 16 cans of Diet Coke a day.

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener about 200 times sweeter than sugar. It is found in many foods such as yogurt, Trident chewing gum, Jell-O instant pudding mix, Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup and toothpaste.

There are six artificial sweeteners approved by the FDA. Splenda contains sucralose; while Sweet’N Low contain saccharin. Stevia is a natural sweetener made from the leaves of the stevia plant, and is found in NutraSweetM.

(Did You Know? The FDA disagrees with the one group’s decision to classify aspartame as a possible carcinogen.)

Two groups from WHO differ on harm from aspartame. One classifies it as possibly carcinogenic specifically for a type of liver cancer. The other group found “no convincing evidence” as aspartame is broken down in the gastrointestinal tract into molecules that are identical to some common foods. This group evaluates the risk of developing cancer.

NEW RF FRACTIONAL TREATMENTS FOR SKIN REJUVENATION

    Before and after pictures here

We now offer Endymed’s 3Deep RF fractional treatments to improve wrinkles and tighten loose skin. It is a combination of microneedling with RF (radio frequency) which warms the skin stimulating more collagen production than just microneedling. This “state of the art machine” causes less pain than similar machines and only requires one pass saving you time. This also results in no bleeding or bruising and minimal downtime. So, this can easily be done during the summer while using a sunscreen after a treatment.

The areas recommended include face, neck, chest (or decolletage), hands, stretch marks, and other areas of loose skin (like the abdomen above). Three treatments one month apart are highly recommended over an individual treatment. Maintenance treatments can commence 6-12 months later.

(Did You Know? Over 40 independent studies have been done to show the clinical improvement of RF fractional treatments.)

From now until September 1st, packages of three treatments of one area saves $300, two areas, $400, and three areas $500! One or more areas include face, neck, chest and hands. Normally three treatments of one area are $2250, now $1950, now two areas, $2900 (normally $3300), and three areas $3750 (normally $4250). For example, three treatments of the face and neck would be $2900 saving $400! Call for prices on other areas.

    Grilled Peaches and Chicken Thighs

It’s a great time of the year for stone fruits (peaches, apricots, plums etc.) and using them in cooking especially grilling.

Place 6 chicken thighs (skin, no skin, boneless, bone-in) in a large plastic bag with ¼ cup of olive oil, 3 smashed cloves of garlic, ¼ tsp. red pepper, 2 tsp. lemon zest, 1 Tbsp. orange zest and 1 tsp. salt. Marinate in frig. 1 to 24 hours.
After marinating, grill chicken until 165 degrees. Cut one large red onion in 1-inch wedges, oil, salt and pepper and grill. Finally, take 1 ½ pounds of peaches, coat with olive oil and small amount of salt and pepper and grill until soft and grill marks appear, 1-2 minutes a side.
For a sauce take the juice from the lemon and orange, add 1 Tbsp. of olive oil and stir together with ¼ cup of fresh basil. Serve over the chicken.
