  • Thanksgiving Day Exercise!

More running races are held on Thanksgiving Day than any other day of the year according to Athlinks.  Last year about 870,000 people ran before consuming turkey, stuffing and pie.  What exercise can you do this Thanksgiving Day?

The granddaddy of all events is the 105th Annual Thanksgiving Day Race downtown.  It is a 10k/6.2 mile run/walk.  I emphasize the walk part because even though it is a timed event, many people walk.  Having done it a number of years, the enthusiasm and comradery is unmatched.  www.thanksgivingdayrace.com will give you the specific information.

(Did You Know?  We’d like to thank our patients who participated in our October Breast Cancer Awareness promotion. The donations went to The Mary Jo Cropper Family Center. They offer Breast Care screening to nearly 40,000 patients each year.)

So 6 miles is too ambitious and you have 20 guests coming for dinner, what can you still do to not feel guilty about the whip cream on the pie?  Montgomery has an early 3.6 mile run/walk.  Many of the health clubs are open early and offer classes from spinning to pilates and yoga.  Perhaps the easiest and most enjoyable way is to gather family and friends to walk pre or post feast.
